Keep your Air Indoor Clean

How to Keep Your Air Indoor Clean

March 1, 2018

As the winter chill fades away and the spring warmth returns to Milton, Florida, it’s the perfect time to start thinking about effective spring cleaning projects. If cleaning up your home’s indoor air quality is at the top of your list, the Lunsford Air Conditioning & Heating team has plenty of smart solutions. From changing the HVAC filter to investing in an air cleaner, here’s how to keep your indoor air clean this spring.

Change the HVAC Filter

The easiest way to keep your home’s indoor air quality high is to change the HVAC filter regularly. Our team recommends changing the filter at least every 90 days and as often as every 30 days. Start spring with a fresh air filter and you’ll keep substances like dust, dirt, and debris out of your HVAC system. Always choose a filter with a minimum efficiency reporting value (MERV) rating between 9 and 12 for the cleanest air and optimal HVAC efficiency.

Schedule an HVAC Tuneup

Our team recommends that you schedule an HVAC tuneup twice a year. Ideally these are in the spring and in the fall. This allows our team of heating and cooling professionals to test and calibrate your system. Doing so helps to to ensure that it operates as efficiently as possible before the warm spring temperatures and cool fall temperatures set in. During HVAC maintenance, our techs can also address any indoor air quality issues. This ensures you’ll be healthier and more comfortable than ever this spring.

Invest in an Air Cleaner

If you’re constantly dealing with airborne contaminants like pet dander, dust mites, or mold, you may need a stronger solution. Our team typically recommends investing in a whole-house air cleaner which works with your HVAC system to eliminate pollutants around the clock. Some systems can remove up to 99 percent of contaminants. This means you can look forward to incredibly clean air this season.
